Melbourne Shwetambar Jain Sangh organised 9 days of event Paryushan 2011 starting from 25th Aug (Thu) to 2nd Sep 2010 (Fri). As a Sharavak/Sharavika its our kartavya to perform Pratikraman and other activities during this period.

MSJS solely depends on support from community members by way of attendance, contributions, donations and sponsorship.

The following are the Nakras for this event:

  • Sadharmik Bhakti Swami Vatsalya - $251.00 for all meals (Many individuals can participate).
  • Sangh Prabhavna - $101.00 (Many individuals can participate).
  • Ashta Prakari Pooja - $51.00 per family/individual (Many individuals can participate).
  • Sangh Poojan - $101.00 (Many individuals can participate).
  • Hall Sponshorship (Every weekday except Samvatsari day) - $1001.00.
  • Samooh Ashta Prakari Pooja Hall Sponsorship (Saturday) - $1001.00.
  • Mahavir Janm Kalyanak Hall Sponsorship (Sunday) - This nakra has been taken by a donor.
  • Samvatsari Pratikramana Hall Sponsorship (Thursday) - This nakra has been taken by a donor.

Samuh Ashta Prakari Pooja

We will perform the Ashta Prakari Pooja in small groups. People can bring their own Pratimaji for this Pooja, if you don't have your personal Pratimaji pleae feel free to come and join us. All the other items and Pooja kit will be provided by the Sangh. There is a nominal nakra of AUD 51.00 per pooja kit. Families/individuals can take the Ashta Prakari Pooja kit to their home after the Pooja as we encourage people to do Pooja at their home. Pooja cloths are required for this Pooja.

 

 

Important Notes

  • During the Paryushana, ideally one shall perform 17 Pratikramanas - Morning & evening Pratikramana during the 8 days of Paryushana and morning Pratikramana on Friday, 2nd September.
  • Anyone performing evening Pratikramana can't eat after sunset.
  • Anyone performing morning pratikramana must have stopped eating prior to sunset on previous day.
  • During Paryushana, one shall confine food intake between Navkarshi & Sunset time and avoid eating root vegetables (& possibly green vegetables as well).
  • Anyone performing any tapasya (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil) must drink boiled water and food between Navkarshi & Sunset time only. It is also important to take appropriate pachchakhkhan.
  • Boiled Water: For every event, arrangement will be made for boiled drinking water for those who are fasting (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil).
  • Katasana and other gears: Please bring your own katasana and other things those who have. We have made arrangements for all those who do not have.
  • During Paryushan Derasar will be open from 5:30 AM for pooja.
  • Management committee reserves the right to amend any of the above programmes, should circumstances change, without advance notice.
