Melbourne Shwetambar Jain Sangh (MSJS) is pleased to invite you and your family to celebrate Parvadhiraj Paryushan Parva, starting from Monday 26th August to Monday 2nd September 2019 (Samvatsari) followed by Samooh Parna on Tuesday 3rd September.
With the blessings of Dev, Guru and Dharma, we are pleased to inform you that Shasan Ratna & Swadhyay Premi Shri Deepakbhai Shah (Bardoli) will be coming to Melbourne for this Paryushan. He will be assisted by Veer Sainik Shri Jatinbhai Gandhi and tabla player Shri Chintanbhai Gandhi.
Shri Rameshbhai Gangar (Mama) and Shri Mehulbhai Shah will also be here in Melbourne to conduct Paryushan activities for two children age groups.
Please note that Mahavir Janma Vaanchan Mahotsav/Supan Uchhamani has been organised on Friday, 30th August being the 5th day of Paryushan Parva.

Paryushan 2019 Committee is working extremely hard to help you do the Paryushan
Aaradhana very well. This year we'll have activities for children aged between 03 - 15 years in addition to arranging child minding facility for children aged up to 3 years.
Child activity: (Aged 03 - 15 years)
- Shri Ramesh bhai Gangar (Mama) and Shri Mehul bhai Shah will be conducting these sessions (subject to Visa approval).
- Swadhyay (Pravachan) time (19:30 to 22:00 hours) on all days during Paryushan.
- Swadhyay time (10:00 to 13:00 hours) on Shri Mahaveer Swami Janm Vaanchan.
- Swadhyay time (10:00 to 16:00 hours) on weekend.
- Samvatsari Pratikraman time 12:15 to 14:30 hours on 02/09/19 Samvatsari day.
Child minding: (Ages up to 3 years)
- Swadhyay time (19:30 to 22:00 hours) on weekdays during Paryushan.
- Swadhyay time (10:00 to 16:00 hours) on weekdays during Paryushan.
- Samvatsari Pratikraman time 12:15 to 14:30 hours on 02/09/19 Samvatsari day.
Hence, The Paryushan 2019 Committee requests you to let us know how many of your children require child minding on which day by filling in the RSVP form.
Please note that for children activity & child minding facility you will be required to pay a 100% REFUNDABLE deposit of AUD $10.00 per child per day at the time of doing RSVP. This deposit amount will be refunded on the requested day at the Swadhyay time. Also note that each child, whose parents have given a response for via RSVP, will be given a wrist band for identification. Children with wrist bands will be allowed to stay with the child carers.
MSJS solely depends on support from community members by way of attendance, contributions, donations and sponsorship. Paryushan team has planned 12 meals (including daily Chauvihar on weekdays) to make it easier for families to participate in Swadhyay and celebration .
This presents an excellent opportunity for Sadharmik Bhakti Labh which is our Kartavya.

- Sangh Prabhavana $5001 (Only 2 members can participate)
- This Paryushan, Set of multiple books on Jainism course (Gujarati/Hindi) per family will be given as Sangh Prabhavana. With the sole purpose of increasing knowledge about Jainism, we encourage everyone to study and pass the relevant exam. - During Paryushan, ideally one shall perform 17 Pratikraman - Morning & evening Pratikraman during the 8 days of Paryushan and morning Pratikraman on Parna day
- Anyone performing evening Pratikraman should not eat after sunset
- During Paryushan, one shall confine meal intake between Navkarshi & Sunset time and avoid eating vegetables / fruits (Jain should not eat root vegetables).
- Anyone performing any Tapasya (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil) must drink boiled water / meals between Porsi & Sunset time only. It is also important to take appropriate pachchakhkhan.
- Boiled Water: For every event, arrangement will be made for boiled drinking water for those who are doing Tapasya.
- Please bring your own Katasana and other things if you have. We have made arrangements for all those who do not have.
- During Paryushan, Derasar will be open from 5:30 AM for pooja. Aarti will be done at 5:30 PM.
- Management committee reserves the right to amend any of the above programmes, should circumstances change, without advance notice.
