Paryushan 2021

Melbourne Shwetambar Jain Sangh (MSJS) is pleased to invite you and your family to celebrate Paryushan Mahaparva, which will start on Friday, 3rd September and end on Friday, 10th September 2021 (Samvatsari).

Due to current pandemic circumstances during this Paryushan, all programs will be completely online as gathering at the MSJS Centre or visit to Jinalay is not permitted according to restrictions in place by the Victorian Government.  

On behalf of MSJS Management Committee, Paryushan 2021 team and all volunteers, we seek your forgiveness – Michchhami Dukadam.

Donation:

MSJS solely depends on support from community members by way of attendance, contributions and financial donations.

MSJS is pleased to offer the following Nakra. One can take Labh of multiple Nakra:

  • Jeev Daya - $80 per Jeev  
  • Tapovan - $201 

You can pay for the Labh by clicking here. Once paid, please send an email to [email protected] with details of the Labh that you want to take and the amount that you have paid.

Important Notes:

  • MSJS would like to encourage all Sadharmik to perform Ashtaprakari Pooja at home
  • During Paryushan, ideally one shall perform 17 Pratikraman - 1 Pratikraman each in the morning & evening during the 8 days of Paryushan and 1 in the morning on Parna day
  • Anyone performing evening Pratikraman should not eat after sunset
  • During Paryushan, one shall confine meal intake between Navkarshi & Sunset time and avoid eating vegetables & fruits (Jains should not eat root vegetables).
  • Anyone performing Tapasya (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil or other) must drink boiled water & consume meals between Porsi & Sunset time only. It is also important to take appropriate Pachchakhkhan. (Pachchakhkhan in Gujarati and in English)
  • Management committee reserves the right to amend any of the above scheduled items, should circumstances change, without advance notice.
