Gahuli/ Colouring  competition for Children

MSJS has always encouraged young children to learn and practice principles of Jainism which help them become Sushravak / Sushravika. Since last four years during all major events, MSJS has given opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge gained by young children in Pathshala by way of individual or group activity and/or competition. Considering overwhelming participation, success of such initiatives for young children and feedback received from parents, this year Paryushan Committee has decided to provide similar opportunity once again during this Paryushan.

This Paryushan, we would like to encourage our young children to participate in Gahuli OR Colouring competition. The competition will take place on Saturday, 12th September 2015.

Gahuli Competition: This will encourage your child to learn the way how we do Gahuli  (Sathiya) using Akshat (Rice) in Ashtaprakari Pooja.

  • Two age groups: 5 to 7 years and 8 to 12 years
  • Time: 9:30 to 9:45 AM
  • Each participating child will do Gahuli (Sathiya) using Akshat (Rice) ONLY.
  • Each participant will get maximum of 15 minutes to complete.
  • Participants should bring Akshat (Rice) from home.
  • All parents are encouraged to teach/prepare their children to participate in Gahuli competition. This will provide children an opportunity to learn Akshat Pooja.

Colouring Competition: This will help child to recognize the colour, line, shape and form. It will increase their creativity to bring colours to the sketch based on Jain principles.

  • Age: 3 to 4 Years
  • Time: 9:30 to 9:50 AM
  • Crayons/Colours/Paints to be brought by parents from home
  • Colouring sheet will be provided
  • Each participant will get maximum of 20 minutes to complete.

As a token of appreciation each participant will be presented with a participation gift and the best 3 performances (in each age group) will beawarded with prize. All parents should encourage their children to take part in this activity, as it will be a good learning experience to boost their confidence.

Since we have limited time for the competition, only registered children will be able to participate. So please register your children by clicking the link here. Registration will close on Sunday 16th August 2015.

If you have any query or need any further information, please contact [email protected] - attention Sneha Mehta.

Child Minding Facility

Paryushan 2015 Committee is working extremely hard to help you do the Paryushan Aaradhana very well, which includes arranging child minding facility for your children at

  • Pravachan time (19:30 to 22:00 hours) on weekdays during Paryushan
  • Pravachan time (11:00 to -16:00 hours) (excluding lunch) Saturday 12/09/2015 and
  • Samvatsari Pratikraman time 13:00 to 17:00 hours on 17/09/2015 Samvatsari day.

Generally, it is extremely difficult to organise child carers during weekdays evening, especially when it is just for couple of hours. To help us assess the number of carers required, we need to ascertain the number of children requiring child minding facility.

Hence, The Paryushan 2015 Committee requests you to let us know how many of your children require child minding on which day by filling in the RSVP form.

  •  Please note that for child minding facility will be You will be required to pay a 100% REFUNDABLE deposit of AUD $10.00 per child per day at the time of doing RSVP. This deposit amount will be refunded on the requested day at the Pravachan time.
