Religious Kids Activity

Children can prepare a small Stuti, Sutra, Stavan, Jain Story or any other Jainism related material and present this on stage to the audience. The stage performance will take place on 15th September, between 10:30 am to 11:30 am Saturday in the morning before lunch.

This competition will be for kids under the age of 12 in two groups as below:

  1. Up to 7 years
  2. 8 to 12 years

Religious Family Activity

Innovative family events have been organized for the first time by MSJS on 15th September, Saturday between 16:00 pm to 17:00 pm, we have arranged family competition. Participating families will have an opportunity to create beatiful Swastik (Sathia) and best one will win "Swastik competition" whereas "Lanchhan competition" will test your knowledge about Lanchhans.

Chaitya Paripati

Chaitya Paripati is one of the Kartavyas of Paryushan which involves visiting multiple derasars after Samvatsari. The excellent response from all participants in 2010 has motivated MSJS to organize Chaitya Paripati in 2012 once again. This will involve visiting few homes of sadharmiks having Pratimaji's across Melbourne from 09:30 to 14:00 on Sunday, 23rd September.

MSJS solely depends on support from community members by way of attendance, contributions, donations and sponsorship.

The following are the Nakras for this event:

  • Sadharmik Bhakti Swami Vatsalya - $251.00 for all meals (Many individuals can participate).
  • Sangh Prabhavna - $101.00 (Many individuals can participate).
  • Sangh Poojan - $101.00 (Many individuals can participate).
  • Hall Sponshorship (Paryushan weekdays - 6 days except Samvatsari day) - $501.00 each (Two nakra - different individuals can participate).
  • Hall Sponsorship (Saturday) - $1001.00 each (Two nakra - different individuals can participate).
  • Mahavir Janm Kalyanak Hall Sponsorship (Sunday) - $1001.00 each (Three nakra - different individuals can participate).
  • Samvatsari Pratikramana Hall Sponsorship (Wednesday) -$1001 each (Three nakra - different individuals can participate).
  • Chaitya Paripati - $101.00( Many individuals can participate).

Important Notes

  • During the Paryushana, ideally one shall perform 17 Pratikramanas - Morning & evening Pratikramana during the 8 days of Paryushana and morning Pratikramana on Thursday, 20 September.
  • Anyone performing evening Pratikramana can't eat after sunset.
  • Anyone performing morning pratikramana must have stopped eating prior to sunset on previous day.
  • During Paryushana, one shall confine food intake between Navkarshi & Sunset time and avoid eating root vegetables (& possibly green vegetables as well).
  • Anyone performing any tapasya (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil) must drink boiled water and food between Porsi & Sunset time only. It is also important to take appropriate pachchakhkhan.
  • Boiled Water: For every event, arrangement will be made for boiled drinking water for those who are fasting (Ekasanu, Biyasanu, Upvas, Aayambil).
  • Katasana and other gears: Please bring your own katasana and other things those who have. We have made arrangements for all those who do not have.
  • During Paryushan Derasar will be open from 5:30 AM for pooja.
  • Management committee reserves the right to amend any of the above programmes, should circumstances change, without advance notice.
